Courts have pushed back hard. Judge Sparkle Sooknanan ruled the rebuilt SAVE database violated the Privacy Act, the Social Security Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act. Judge Indira Talwani blocked the mail voting order, writing plainly that "the Constitution does not grant the President any specific powers over elections." These are real wins, but they only protect states that fight. The administration is already moving ahead in states that didn't sue.
The DOJ has filed 31 federal lawsuits against 30 states plus DC to force data handover. Do not comply, do not negotiate, and do not let grant threats — like the proposed 20% cut to homeland security funding — pressure this state into surrendering voter rolls. The competitive races that decide control of Congress are concentrated exactly where this data grab is focused. Capitulating now doesn't buy peace.
