Major Concerns About Presidential Self-Enrichment and Congressional Inaction

I am writing to express serious concern about reports that President Trump and his family are enriching themselves while he serves in the highest office in our government, and to ask why Congress has allowed this to continue without meaningful oversight or accountability.
Recent reporting highlights that a prominent Republican donor has publicly accused the Trump administration of “enriching” family members of the president through decisions and policies made while in office. According to these accounts, members of the Trump family appear to have benefited financially from favorable policies related to the cryptocurrency industry, among other sectors, during his presidency.
Additionally, earlier reporting showed that just days before President Trump’s most recent inauguration, a member of the Emirati royal family invested $500 million in the Trump family’s cryptocurrency company, World Liberty Financial — including hundreds of millions paid directly to entities tied to the Trump family. Critics argue this deal creates a profound conflict of interest, raising questions about whether foreign investment and subsequent policy decisions truly serve the public interest or private financial gain.
By continuing to approve or support policies that directly benefit the president’s family ventures while in office, the administration undermines both ethical norms and public trust. The Constitution’s Emoluments Clause was designed to prevent public officials from receiving “any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever” from foreign states without the consent of Congress. Yet, despite these concerns, there has been no formal inquiry or corrective action from a Congress controlled by your own party.
It is deeply troubling that presidents are expected to stand above conflicts of interest, yet here we have scenarios in which financial benefits — whether domestic or foreign — appear to flow directly to the president’s family while policy is being shaped in ways that could advantage those same interests. Even if some of these arrangements fall into legal gray areas due to loopholes in current ethics laws, they raise unmistakable questions about fairness and the rule of law.
The appearance of self-dealing by a sitting president corrodes confidence in government and sets a dangerous precedent that could normalize corruption at the highest levels. It is not merely a political disagreement — it is a fundamental issue of governance, ethics, and accountability.
As my representative, I want to know:
Do you believe that it is appropriate for a sitting president and his immediate family to profit financially from their proximity to executive power?
Do you support a thorough, independent congressional investigation into the various business ties and policy decisions that appear to benefit the Trump family?
If not, why has Congress chosen to defer oversight in this matter, even when credible concerns have been raised by citizens, watchdog groups, and even prominent donors within your own party?
Our democratic system depends on elected officials who respect both the letter and spirit of the law. Ignoring conflicts of interest at the highest levels of government threatens the very integrity of that system.
I look forward to your response.
