It is a solution in search of a problem that does not exist. It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, and there is zero evidence of widespread fraud. By requiring "documentary proof of citizenship" just to register, you are effectively stripping the right to vote from millions of eligible, tax-paying Americans—including seniors, rural voters, and students—who do not have a passport or birth certificate readily available. This isn't "election integrity"; it is a modern-day poll tax designed to create bureaucratic hurdles that silence the voices of the people. The United States of America is supposed to be a beacon of democracy, not a country that demands "papers, please" at the ballot box. This legislation is a cowardly retreat from our national values.
