End the war crimes in Panjshir, Afghanistan

Dear Representative(s), I am writing to you today to express deep concern over the humanitarian situation precipitating in the northern Afghan province of Panjshir. Over the last several days, Taliban insurgents have overrun the Panjshir district through a campaign of brute force and ethnic genocide, all the while seeming to present a moderate appearance to the international community. Despite their hollow promises to create a more open and accepting Afghan society, the Taliban and their state sponsors have blatantly violated international law and impeded on basic human dignity by taking innocent civilians as human shields and mine clearing devices. Their campaign in the region has accordingly lead to the deaths of countless women and children along with the creation of a humanitarian crisis implicating over 5 million internally displaced people (IDPs), many of whom have sought refuge in one of the last remaining provinces not in direct control of the organization. In addition to cutting off these refugees’ access to crucial supply lines, the Taliban insurgents have limited cell-tower and internet access in the region to further silence the voices of those they are actively oppressing. Such heinous actions not only violate all that we hold true as Americans, but more importantly, all that we hold true as human beings. In the spirit of the esteemed Woodrow Wilson’s “Fourteen Points”, the Afghan people too deserve the fundamental right to self-determination - one in which they are free from state sponsored terrorism and imposed injustices. Today, I am writing and pleading to you to address the following concerns: 1. To authorize formal humanitarian assistance to the Panjshir Valley and its residents by providing vital food, water and other essential resources via a third country, NGO or aerial package 2. To recognize the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan as the legitimate governing body of the formerly known Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, led by His Excellency Ahmad Massoud 3. To acknowledge and condemn the Taliban’s (and their sponsors’) propagation of war crimes in the Panjshir Valley through indiscriminate bombardments and intentional civilian attacks By committing to such proposals, we are not only seeking to do what is in the national interests of the United States of America, but further what is in the interests of humanity and basic instinct. Together and through your support, we may craft a more just, safe and moral environment for the Afghan people. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Sincerely,
