An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Pass the Dignity Act of 2023

9 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

As a concerned constituent, I’m writing to urge you to vote in support of H.R. 3599, or the Dignity Act of 2023, which would provide noncitizens with an opportunity to obtain legal status, update aspects of the U.S. legal immigration system, and strengthen border security. Those affected by immigration policy need your support now more than ever, as 11.7 million undocumented immigrants face the threat of deportation. Most of our noncitizen population has lived in this country for 10 years or more. Mass deportation would immediately reduce the nation’s GDP by 1.4 percent and reduce the cumulative GDP over 10 years by $4.7 trillion. If most noncitizens were deported, it would cost $118 billion to raise the children left behind. The U.S. housing market would be in jeopardy of collapsing, as 1.2 million mortgages are held by households with noncitizens. The barriers to naturalization imposed by current immigration policy are significant. The Dignity Act of 2023 provides a paid pathway to citizenship for those who qualify, strengthens our border, and reforms the asylum system. Please support the Dignity Act of 2023 and help protect the welfare of 11.7 million people and their families. Thank you for your consideration.
