Oppose the Chloe Cole Act and Anti-Transgender Rhetoric

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Chloe Cole Act and the dangerous rhetoric Congressman Bob Onder has used to describe transgender people. Calling an entire community a "demonic evil" and referring to "the transgender cult" is not only deeply offensive but fundamentally incompatible with the dignity and respect every constituent deserves. The Chloe Cole Act is based on a false premise that young people are being pushed into gender-affirming healthcare by a profit-motivated industry. The reality is that transgender youth face significant barriers to accessing care. Research shows that most young people treated for gender dysphoria are actually transgender, detransition rates are very low, and regret rates for gender-affirming care are lower than for many other medical interventions. This legislation would make it easier to sue healthcare providers who follow established medical protocols, threatening to eliminate access to evidence-based care entirely. Transgender people are not a threat. They are our neighbors, family members, coworkers, and friends who simply want to live their lives with the same dignity and safety everyone deserves. Yet they have become convenient scapegoats for political gain, facing legislation that restricts their healthcare, their participation in public life, and their basic civil rights. This pattern of targeting a vulnerable minority is both morally wrong and historically dangerous. I urge you to oppose the Chloe Cole Act and any similar legislation that restricts access to gender-affirming healthcare or enables harassment of medical providers. I also ask that you publicly condemn the dehumanizing language Congressman Onder has used to describe transgender people. Our elected officials should protect all constituents, not demonize them. Transgender people deserve to be treated with the same respect and humanity as anyone else. I expect my representatives to stand up for that principle.
