An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Reject Vought nomination, affirm equality and inclusion values

Russell Vought's nomination as director of the Office of Management and Budget should be rejected due to concerns beyond just his opposition to civil rights and diversity efforts. His record indicates a willingness to consolidate power in the executive branch that would undermine Congress' constitutional authority over federal spending decisions. Allowing Vought to lead the OMB poses a threat to the system of checks and balances by granting the White House too much control over the nation's finances without legislative oversight. As a threat to both equality and the balance of powers, Vought's appointment could have damaging consequences for American democracy and must be prevented.
