I am writing to express my strong support for the Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability Act (TJAAA) and to urge you to champion its passage.
As a constituent who has experienced firsthand the frustration, confusion, and disillusionment caused by misleading job advertisements—often referred to as “ghost jobs”—I believe this legislation is urgently needed. Too many Americans are applying to positions that were never real: unfunded roles, recycled postings, or listings created only to harvest résumés and personal data. This practice wastes time, erodes trust in the hiring process, and disproportionately harms those who are already struggling.
The TJAAA sets reasonable and much-needed standards for transparency in job postings. It ensures that all publicly advertised roles are legitimate, time-bound, and clearly labeled with key information such as pay range, hiring timelines, and whether AI or automation is used in screening applicants. It also offers strong privacy protections by banning the resale of applicant data and the use of behavioral profiling through passive tracking technologies.
Importantly, the bill includes thoughtful exemptions for small businesses acting in good faith and provides clear enforcement mechanisms that balance accountability with due process.
This legislation is not anti-business or anti-technology—it is pro-truth, pro-transparency, and pro-worker. It helps job seekers make informed decisions, gives ethical employers a level playing field, and improves the accuracy of labor market data used in economic policy.
I respectfully urge you to support the TJAAA and help restore integrity to the American job market. Thank you for your leadership and attention to this important issue.
