Humane deportations via civilian flights, not military escalation

The use of military aircraft for deportations is an unnecessary and costly measure that serves no practical purpose beyond a show of force. Countries like Colombia have expressed willingness to accept deportation flights on civilian aircraft, a reasonable stance given the treatment of undocumented immigrants as criminals rather than civil cases. Threatening harsh economic retaliation against allies through tariffs and travel bans is an excessive response that will only strain diplomatic relations. Instead of escalating tensions, a more prudent approach would be to utilize standard deportation procedures on civilian flights, respecting the sovereignty of nations while avoiding exorbitant military expenses funded by U.S. taxpayers. Pursuing punitive actions against trade partners ultimately harms American consumers and businesses through increased costs passed on from retaliatory tariffs. Dialogue and practical solutions should take precedence over unilateral shows of force that provide no tangible benefits. A resolution allowing humane deportations without militarization would be a more constructive path forward.
