Opposition to the SAVE Act Vote

Dear Senator Cassidy and Senator Kennedy, I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment in your decision to support the SAVE Act. Your vote in favor of this legislation is, in my view, a direct attack on the fundamental right to vote. This bill places unnecessary and burdensome requirements on eligible American citizens—particularly women, married individuals, and working-class voters—who may not have immediate access to the specific documentation it demands. At a time when participation in our democracy should be protected and encouraged, you chose to support a measure that risks excluding lawful voters instead. The justification of “election integrity” does not outweigh the very real consequences of disenfranchising citizens. There is no widespread evidence of non-citizen voting at a level that warrants this kind of sweeping restriction. What this bill does accomplish, however, is making it harder for everyday Americans to exercise their constitutional rights. As a constituent, I expect my elected officials to protect access to the ballot—not create barriers to it. Your vote signals a willingness to prioritize political narratives over the rights and realities of the people you represent. I urge you to reconsider your stance on legislation like this moving forward and to commit to protecting—not restricting—the voting rights of all eligible citizens.
