These programs are indispensable to the well-being of our communities, and any attempt to undermine or defund them would not only hurt countless Iowans but could also have lasting negative consequences for our state as a whole. I urge you to take a stand against this misleading rhetoric and investigate these claims. It is crucial that we protect organizations like Lutheran Social Services, which provide tangible and life-changing support to our citizens. Defending such organizations should be a priority for all of us, regardless of political affiliations or personal connections. Leadership requires the courage to challenge harmful narratives and to support those who contribute positively to our state.
