I am asking you to support an end to the filibuster. It is a relic of the Jim Crow South, and true to its origins, is preventing progress on voting rights. It used to at least cost the minority something (the discomfort of prolonged speeches) but the way it is practiced today, without real debate, is nothing but raw obstruction. It is unworthy of the world’s greatest deliberative body. I do not believe our Founders would approve of or even recognize the US Senate today. Please make common cause with the majority on this issue. End the filibuster, and return power to the people who elected you to represent them.
