Reinstate UNRWA funding, investigate attacks, protect Palestinian civilians

Reinstating funding for UNRWA is crucial to ensure the agency can continue providing vital services to Palestinian refugees amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The unconscionable airstrike on an UNRWA shelter in Nuseirat camp that killed 18 civilians, including 6 staff members, underscores the urgent need for measures to protect civilians. An arms embargo on Israel would restrict the supply of weapons used in such indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure. As stated by the UN Secretary-General, this incident requires an independent investigation to ensure accountability for potential violations of international law. Civilians and the infrastructure they rely on must be safeguarded and allowed to meet essential needs during armed conflicts.
