An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Iowa’s Federal Delegation Must Step Up on Epstein Files

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The Jeffrey Epstein files hold crucial information about sex trafficking and potential institutional coverups. While no single member of Congress can force the Department of Justice to release these documents, it is well within your powers to demand transparency, push for legislation, and use oversight authority to hold the DOJ accountable. However, when the House considered legislation aimed at compelling disclosure, Iowa’s delegation did not take a visible leadership role. This silence is troubling given the gravity of the issue. What has been done so far is clearly not enough. Iowa needs and deserves stronger leadership on this issue—especially one that is so clear-cut. There is no moral gray area here. You either demand justice against such corruption and evil, or you remain silent, wishy-washy, and do nothing. To be clear: • Representatives Nunn, Miller-Meeks, Hinson, and Feenstra have not publicly demanded the release of these files or co-sponsored related legislation. I urge you to publicly call for transparency, support or introduce bills requiring disclosure, and push for hearings or investigations. • Senator Ernst has made no public statements urging DOJ transparency on this issue. I ask you to use your Senate platform to demand the release of records and support bipartisan efforts for oversight. • Senator Grassley has historically advocated for transparency on Epstein-related matters and pressed the DOJ for information. Yet, he has not made recent statements reinforcing this stance amid renewed public scrutiny. I encourage you to renew your calls for transparency, lead bipartisan efforts, and push for concrete legislative or oversight actions. Iowa expects its representatives to use public statements and congressional tools to demand transparency, support or sponsor legislation compelling the DOJ to disclose Epstein-related records, hold hearings or join oversight efforts to ensure accountability, and stand publicly with survivors by refusing to treat this as a partisan or secondary issue. Iowa deserves leadership that demands accountability on this critical issue. The time to act is now.
