Stop Texas AG Ken Paxton’s Wasteful Tylenol Lawsuit
14 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
I’m writing to demand immediate action to stop Attorney General Ken Paxton’s reckless lawsuit against the makers of Tylenol. This lawsuit claims Tylenol causes autism despite no evidence and despite the FDA stating no causal relationship has been found. Even Republican Senator Bill Cassidy said the suit should be thrown out because the evidence is weak. A 2024 NIH study found no link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists continues to recommend acetaminophen as the safest painkiller during pregnancy. Paxton is spreading dangerous misinformation that could lead pregnant women to suffer through treatable pain or use riskier alternatives.
Paxton’s impeachment already cost us $5.1 million. He routinely hires private lawyers at outrageous rates instead of using state attorneys. His refusal to settle the whistleblower case will add over $1.2 million in interest to what we already owe. Now he’s hired the same law firm that represents personal injury plaintiffs suing Johnson & Johnson, creating a financial conflict of interest. This isn’t sound legal strategy. It’s political theater timed with his Senate campaign, and Texas taxpayers are footing the bill.
I’m asking you to cut off funding for this lawsuit, impose stricter oversight on the Attorney General’s use of outside counsel, and make it clear that state resources will not be wasted on misinformation and politically motivated cases. Our state deserves an attorney general who respects evidence, protects public health, and uses taxpayer money responsibly. Hold him accountable.
