Oppose H.R.93 – Defending Racial Equity in U.S. Foreign Policy

I am writing to strongly oppose H.R.93, which seeks to eliminate federal funding for the State Department’s Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. This bill is a regressive attack on the fundamental values of inclusion and fairness.
The role of the Special Representative is vital in ensuring that U.S. foreign policy reflects the values we claim to uphold—equity, justice, and respect for human rights. Attempting to dismantle this office sends the wrong message to the world and undermines our credibility in promoting democratic values abroad.
Racial equity is not a “woke agenda”—it is a moral imperative and a strategic necessity. By embedding equity into foreign policy, we signal that the United States is serious about addressing systemic injustice, both at home and globally. H.R.93, by contrast, is a reactionary bill that would undo this progress for purely ideological reasons.
I urge you to vote against H.R.93 and to speak out in defense of racial equity and justice as essential pillars of responsible governance.
