Faster Action on Climate Emergency in Next Congress

Today I take pen in hand to write and continue to urge you to follow the path laid out by the Biden campaign to transition off oil, natural gas and coal in all aspects of our federal energy mix. We must protect life on our Earth, and that includes ourselves. I worry that even though most people are in favor of climate solutions, we are perilously close to the tipping point in our environment. Scientifically, we cannot afford four more years of stalling actions by moneyed interests that work against a clean energy transition. Recent articles from many sources have made this point. We can do nothing, and face an increasingly dire situation in our own backyards owing to climate change effects, or we can act. One article I will note is from the August 27th edition of Rolling Stone magazine: "Climate Apocalypse Now" The choice is clear. Hopefully the election will clear the decks of the lists and deniers in Congress, and leave you with a real agenda to work on as quickly as possible. I urge you to work at a much higher scale than has already been proposed for climate action. We must go beyond the rhetoric. We need real laws, incentives, and yes money. I'm not worried about the taxes. The climate emergency is a much bigger tax in our future. Thank you.
