Re-Introduce CHIME Act, Save and Support Community Health Centers

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to re-introduce and support the Community Health Investment, Modernization, and Excellence (CHIME) Act last introduced in 2019. This important legislation comes during a time when Republican are attempting to defund anything people want and need. The bill is vital for the continued operation of community health centers across our nation. The CHIME Act seeks to reauthorize funding for community health centers for five years. This is a matter of utmost urgency, as current funding has already been allowed by Republicans to expire.Without immediate action, millions of Americans could lose access to essential health services, especially underserved areas in every state. Community health centers are the backbone of healthcare in underserved areas, providing comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health services. These centers are a lifeline for families, offering quality, affordable healthcare including preventive care, vision services, and low-cost dental care. The impact extends far beyond our state - nationally, these centers serve over 28 million people. The reach of these centers is profound, serving diverse populations including veterans and uninsured individuals. By supporting the CHIME Act, we can ensure continued access to healthcare for some of our most vulnerable citizens. This is not just a healthcare issue; it's an economic one.
