I see the new Trump re-election strategy is to finally speak the truth.
Whoops.
The Jake Tapper Sunday a.m. interview with chief-of-staff Mark Meadows went well. We actually heard the words that most Americans already knew.
“Here is what we have to do,” Meadows declared. “We are not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics, and other mitigation areas.”
Hands washed of it. Over and done. Moving on. Next!
Not that this hasn’t been the strategy from the git go. And we all know it. It is simpler to do nothing. American citizens are expendable.
But it’s a shame when the admission of failure becomes a political strategy.
When asked why a federal attempt can’t at least be made to contain the virus... "Because it is a contagious virus, just like the flu," Meadows replied.”
Don’t want to wear a mask? Then don’t. Want to wear a mask? Then do. Just leave us, your government, out of the equation
It’s nicely convenient when the GOP mantra of personal freedom coincides with a laissez-faire work ethic. Makes it easy for your side to carry on their merry way. Deadly for those of us trying to dodge contagion.
“This is an utter abdication of the government’s responsibility to keep the public safe. The president has no higher duty than public health and safety. The White House is going to be responsible for thousands of needless deaths in America. Frankly the president has blood on his hands.”
And no amount of retrospective hand washing by him, or you, will change that.
