Oppose & Vote NO on the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act

Today I take in hand to write and urge you to oppose, Vote NO and refute publicly the so-called “Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act”. It’s authoritarian overreach, wrapped in the bigoted and racist idea that immigrants do all the crime in the country, and that states rights only matter when it benefits Trump and his thuggish cohorts in the government. The proposal to strip federal funding from so-called "sanctuary cities" is bad policy, legally misguided, harmful to all communities. This bill undermines public safety by creating a climate of fear that discourages cooperation between immigrant communities and law enforcement. When victims and witnesses are afraid to report crimes or provide information due to immigration status concerns, it becomes harder to investigate and prosecute real criminal activity like human trafficking, child endangerment, and yes, even drug crimes. Furthermore, many studies have shown that sanctuary policies do not contribute to higher crime rates. Rather than scapegoating immigrants, we must focus resources on evidence-based solutions to reduce violence and strengthen community trust AT THE LOCAL LEVEL. What does it matter to people in Ohio if New York is a sanctuary city? Mind your own damn business. Punishing cities that refuse to divert local law enforcement resources toward federal immigration enforcement sets a dangerous precedent of federal overreach into local governance. It also will stretch local law enforcements ability to carry out it’a primary mission of local law enforcement. I urge you to reject this counterproductive legislation and instead pursue comprehensive immigration reform through good-faith negotiation. Cities don’t ‘belong’ to Trump or his personal hatred acted out via our federal government. Oppose, Vote NO on the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act. Stop this underhanded attempt at authoritarian control over municipalities that don’t follow the racist and criminal ideas of the Trump government. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
