I have been watching the recent events in Minnesota and elsewhere with increasing rage and frustration. ICE is now operating as an extrajudicial terrorist force given free rein by an increasingly dictatorial and authoritarian presidency. “Abolish ICE” is no longer an extreme position, it’s a moderate one, and one I insist you, as our elected leaders, stand up and adopt. To give ANY funding to ICE is to condone their actions. THIS. HAS. TO. STOP.
Not only do I expect you to vote “NO” on ANY funding bills for ICE or DHS, I expect you to be loud voices demanding that the entire agency be dismantled. I want you to press the senior leadership of the Democratic National Party to do the same. It’s not a question of ICE lacking training or limitations — these are men operating above and beyond the law as executioners while our various government officials stand along and with their silence or obedience, grant them tacit approval. ICE as an agency is corrupted to the core, the mere name is now fundamentally un-trustworthy.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. This is un-American horseshit. I want the men who’ve assaulted thousands of people across this country prosecuted. I want ICE gone. We managed to get by without that agency for over 220 years just fine.
The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are meaningless without forceful action taken against those who violate these key principles of our government, and in fact, what ICE and their American Gestapo goon squads are doing is worse than what our forefathers were forced to deal with when they decided to revolt against King George.
The decent people in Minnesota (and across the country) standing up for their neighbors, friends, and co-workers are doing the hard, heroic work of standing up for the principles of American values. It’s time for you and everyone in Congress to do the same.
