Oppose H.R.722 - "equal protection" for unviable fetuses.

I am writing to express my unequivocal opposition to H.R. 722. This bill ignores basic biological and medical facts, prioritizing ideology over science, personal rights, and medical autonomy. Worse, laws like this have already killed women and left others with lifelong disabilities, including permanent infertility.
A non-viable pregnancy is not a person in any meaningful sense. It lacks independent function, self-awareness, and the ability to survive outside of another’s body. We have already seen living women denied necessary medical care due to laws like this, resulting in sepsis, organ failure, hysterectomies, and preventable deaths. H.R. 722 does not protect life—it actively destroys it.
Furthermore, biology itself does not treat every pregnancy as a guaranteed life. Studies estimate that at least 10-20% of *known* pregnancies end in natural miscarriage, with the actual number likely much higher. If every fertilized egg were legally recognized as a full person, then nature itself would be responsible for an overwhelming loss of “lives.” The reality is clear: in its earliest stages, pregnancy is a developing biological process, not an autonomous human being.
It is beyond absurd that politicians—most of whom lack any medical expertise—continue to interfere in private healthcare decisions. Medical issues should be handled by doctors and patients, not lawmakers pushing ideological agendas. Legislating personal medical choices is not just intrusive—it is reckless, irresponsible, and a gross abuse of power. H.R. 722 does nothing but weaponize healthcare for political gain, and it must be rejected.
This bill represents an unacceptable government overreach, placing unnecessary burdens on individuals and medical professionals while turning complex, often heartbreaking medical situations into legal battlegrounds. And, as history has already shown, it will cost lives. H.R. 722 is not about protecting life—it is about control. And I urge you to stand against it.
I expect my elected representatives to uphold reason, science, and personal autonomy—not impose ideological restrictions on private medical decisions. Vote against H.R. 722 and any similar attempts to strip people of their fundamental rights.
