congress What are you Democrats doing? A fascist takeover of the government is happening and you're acting like this is normal. You're acting like these are regular republicans doing regular republican things. This is not normal. They are doing Nazi salutes. They are breaking laws left and right. They are clearing out the government and installing their loyalists at all levels. They are showing us who they are. They don't care about truth or laws, they only care about power and violence.
You need to do something. You need to be blocking and opposing everything you can. Don't be the loyal opposition. Be the real opposition.
If you don't want to do it for the immigrants, trans people, federal workers, nonprofit workers, poor people, old people, everyone in the US, and everyone in the world, then do it for yourselves. Members of opposition parties rarely survive a fascist coup unscathed.
We like think that the US is an exceptional place and extreme political violence can't happen here. It's comforting to think that laws and checks and balances will protect us. It's hard to believe what we're seeing. But terrible things can happen here and they have before. And they will again if we don't stop it. So snap out of it. This is happening.
Please step up before it's too late. This is the fight of our lives. If you're not up to fight, that is fair. You were elected before knowing what was coming. But then resign and then we can get someone in that is ready to fight. There is no shame in that.
