I am writing to urge you to oppose the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). This role demands unparalleled expertise, impartiality, and a commitment to safeguarding our nation’s security. Ms. Gabbard’s lack of intelligence experience and her controversial record raise serious concerns about her qualifications and suitability for this critical position.
As a Senator, you have sworn an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and to act without reservation in the best interests of our nation. Confirming Ms. Gabbard would not only jeopardize the integrity of our intelligence community but also undermine public trust in its leadership. Her history of promoting conspiracy theories, meeting with authoritarian leaders like Bashar al-Assad, and amplifying Russian propaganda directly contradicts the values required for this office.
The DNI oversees 18 intelligence agencies with a budget exceeding $70 billion. This role necessitates deep expertise in national security, which Ms. Gabbard demonstrably lacks. Her controversial stances could compromise our intelligence operations and embolden adversaries.
I urge you to honor your oath by rejecting this nomination and ensuring that the Director of National Intelligence is someone with the qualifications, experience, and integrity necessary to protect our nation.
