An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect NC schools, don't eliminate U.S. Education Department

20 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Eliminating the U.S. Department of Education would severely undermine educational funding and services for North Carolina. The department provides $1.5 billion in federal aid to the state annually, including critical Title I funding for disadvantaged students and IDEA funding for students with disabilities. Over 12,000 public school staff depend on this money. The department also manages $1.4 billion in university research grants for the UNC system and oversees student loans, grants, and civil rights enforcement. Dismantling it risks losing these essential resources that help ensure access and equity in education for all North Carolinians.
