1,000+ Law Professors Declare Trump Constitutional Crisis - Demand Impeachment

The case against President Trump is clear. His unauthorized bombing of Iran on June 21, 2025, violated the Constitution’s war powers clause—even sparking concerns among Republican colleagues about its legality. He has systematically defied federal and Supreme Court orders, including refusing to release $2 billion in foreign aid and continuing deportations after judicial orders to halt them. His abuse of emergency powers to freeze $1 trillion in federal grants and impose tariffs without congressional approval represents the tyranny the Framers sought to prevent through impeachment. Most alarmingly, he has deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles and Washington DC in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act—with a federal judge ruling his LA deployment illegal—while threatening similar deployments to Chicago, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Portland against the explicit objections of their governors. This is not a matter of partisan politics. Over 1,000 law professors have declared a constitutional crisis. In a survey, 34 of 35 legal scholars described Trump as a “lawless authoritarian.” Leading Harvard experts have labeled his actions the greatest threat to the rule of law since the Civil War.
