Deep Disappointment in Budget Vote
6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent to express my extreme disappointment in your recent vote to pass the latest budget bill. This legislation is a fiscal and moral failure, and your support for it is a direct affront to the principles of responsible governance and the needs of the people you were elected to represent.
This bill’s explosive increase to the national deficit, paired with devastating cuts to essential programs like Medicare and Medicaid, is indefensible. These programs are lifelines for millions of Americans—including many in our district—and your vote puts their health and security in jeopardy.
Worse still, this bill is laced with anti-democratic power grabs and unrelated policy riders that have no place in a budget package. These provisions were cynically inserted to bypass the normal legislative process and concentrate power in dangerous ways. They are an insult to the democratic ideals you swore to uphold.
At a time when true leadership demands fiscal restraint, transparency, and compassion, you have instead chosen to back a bill that mortgages our country’s future, harms working families and seniors, and undermines the integrity of our democratic system. That is not acceptable.
I urge you to explain this vote to your constituents and reconsider your approach moving forward. We need representatives who will stand up for fiscal sanity, democratic norms, and the well-being of everyday Americans—not rubber-stamp destructive legislation.
