An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)
Texans want fair elections!
6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
I am writing as a deeply concerned Texan to demand that you stop this gerrymandering nonsense once and for all. Redrawing district lines to favor one political party or entrench those already in power is not governance—it’s manipulation.
This is more than just bad policy. It is illegal, undermines the principles of our Constitution, and blatantly violates the Voting Rights Act. Instead of representing the people, gerrymandering silences communities, splits neighborhoods, and denies Texans a fair voice in their own democracy.
And let’s talk about the waste: every round of politically motivated redistricting burns through millions in taxpayer funds—money that should be going to public schools, roads, healthcare, and real priorities, not legal battles and political games. Texans should not be footing the bill for self-serving power grabs.
The bottom line is simple: gerrymandering is undemocratic, unethical, and just plain ridiculous. If lawmakers are confident in their ideas and leadership, they should welcome fair maps and competitive elections, not hide behind lines drawn to keep themselves safe from accountability.
I urge you to reject any and all gerrymandered maps and to support independent, nonpartisan redistricting reforms. Let’s restore trust in our state government by ensuring that Texans choose their leaders—not the other way around.
