The Office of Management and Budget had ordered a freeze of all federal financial assistance in all agencies, including those that oversee government programs and funding for organizations that provide domestic violence and sexual assault services, such as Health and Human Services (HHS), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In addition, critical offices within these agencies, such as the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), have been impacted. For instance, in late January OVW removed all available 2025 notices for grant funding which has interrupted important programs that have been developed to support survivors, eliminated life-saving resources, and putting the health and safety of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking, at greater risk.
I/We ask that you take action to ensure that necessary funding is restored, and that funding opportunities are reinstated and protected The federal government has a responsibility to uphold its commitment to addressing sexual assault and domestic violence and ensuring that survivors receive the support they need. Please use your position to advocate for funding to support survivors and move for transparency in funding status.
