Pass HB 182 - Don't partner with ICE

I urge you to protect our friends, families, and neighbors by supporting and passing HB 182, which would prohibit local law enforcement from entering into 287(g) agreements with ICE. Thanks to community action, a proposed 287(g) agreement in Camden was halted—but without the passage of HB 182, the door remains open for future partnerships with ICE that threaten the safety and trust within our communities. Delaware has a proud history of welcoming immigrants and those seeking refuge, but 287(g) agreements align with harmful federal policies that target these immigrant communities and foster fear. Furthermore, 287(g) agreements have a history of undermining trust in law enforcement, imposing serious financial burdens on local governments, and exposing agencies to costly civil rights litigation. Instead of adopting policies that divide and intimidate, I encourage you to support HB 182 to ensure Delaware remains a place of safety and dignity for all.
