An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Don’t cut Medicaid so you can cut taxes.

I’m a physician and I see patients with Medicaid, despite the abysmal reimbursement to providers, because those patients need care and that’s what I and most of my colleagues signed up for. Of the Medicaid patients I see, it is very rare to see someone who is able bodied on the program unless they are women who are pregnant or with small children. The thought that the republicans in congress would work to make huge cuts to the program so that they can cut taxes, cuts that would overwhelmingly favor the well off, is appalling. Trickle down economics doesn’t work the common man. It never has and never will, but the Republican Party won’t give up the notion that it works and in the process manages to drive our deficits higher while enriching the most fortunate at the expense of the working class backbone of our country. I would encourage you to fight against Medicaid cuts as a way to reward the wealthy. It would be the best thing you can do for your constituents in the 5th district.
