An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

Oppose Safety Net Cuts to Fund Billionaire Tax Breaks

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

This proposed budget resolution from the House Budget Committee is extremely concerning. It prioritizes providing trillions in tax cuts for wealthy individuals and corporations over protecting vital safety net programs that millions of Americans rely on for their well-being. Slashing $2 trillion from mandatory federal spending on essential programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP will have devastating impacts on low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and children. At the same time, extending the 2017 tax cuts will only further increase economic inequality and balloon the deficit by $4.5 trillion. This misguided approach puts corporate profits ahead of the needs of everyday Americans and the long-term fiscal health of our nation. I urge you to reject this reckless budget proposal and instead prioritize policies that invest in strengthening the social safety net, reducing poverty, and promoting economic security for all. We cannot sacrifice the well-being of our most vulnerable communities to fund tax breaks for the wealthy few.
