An open letter to the U.S. Congress

No War with Iran — Congress Must Act Now

I am writing to demand immediate action to prevent any U.S. military escalation with Iran. It would be unconstitutional for the President to initiate military action against Iran without Congressional authorization. But just as importantly, Congress must not grant that authorization. Not now. Not later. Not under political pressure. The answer must be no. No war with Iran. Period. Military escalation would not only risk American service members — it would endanger Iranian civilians and civilians across the Middle East. War with Iran would likely trigger regional retaliation, expand into a broader conflict, destabilize economies, and produce humanitarian devastation that cannot be contained once unleashed. There is no credible evidence that Iran currently possesses nuclear weapons or is actively building one. U.S. intelligence assessments have repeatedly stated Iran is not pursuing a nuclear weapon at this time, and international inspectors have not found proof of an active weapons program. Meanwhile, the United States maintains one of the largest nuclear arsenals on Earth — capable of destroying the planet many times over. Israel also possesses nuclear weapons, which directly shape the security balance of the region. The narrative of imminent Iranian nuclear aggression does not justify preemptive war. The American people understand this. In a recent poll, 70% of American voters said they oppose military action against Iran. The public does not want another catastrophic war in the Middle East. It is time for Congress to fulfill its Constitutional authority and require explicit authorization before any military action against Iran. And more than that — Congress must refuse to authorize such action. If you are a Senator, I expect you to cosponsor the Kaine-Paul resolution and push for an immediate vote. If you are a Member of the House, I expect you to bring the Khanna-Massie resolution to the House floor for a vote. Silence is consent. Funding is endorsement. Failure to act is approval. Congress must reassert its Article I authority. No war with Iran. No escalation. No authorization. History will record whether you defended the Constitution — or enabled another disastrous war. I expect your public commitment immediately.
