An open letter to the U.S. Congress

As my representative I want to know how you are voting on the voting acts!

As my representative I want to ask how you will vote on the upcoming vote acts? Our democracy is at state and I believe any senator, or representative for citizens at local or state government needs to pass these voting acts. The fact that republican senators before who supported the same act are now afraid to do so is not acceptable. How can we as a state and nation look to restrict voting ? Are you looking to bring back this country backwards to segregation and voting suppression bought on by squashing voting rights? I want your commitment as my representative that you will have the courage to vote in favor of this voting rights. The country is watching and history will be recording how you stand on this act. Sixteen sitting Republican senators have previously voted for reauthorizations of the Voting Rights Act but now refuse to support the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.    • In 2006, Sens. McConnell, Grassley, Shelby, Crapo, Collins, Burr, Inhofe, Graham, Thune, Cornyn, Blackburn, Blunt, Boozman, Capito, Moran, and Wicker voted for the 2006 reauthorization.
   • In 1982, Sen. Grassley both voted for and cosponsored the VRA reauthorization.
