As an outdoor enthusiast and constituent, I am urging you to support passage of the bipartisan America the Beautiful Act (S. 2584). This legislation is critical to ensuring our public lands remain accessible for future generations.
The Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF), which funds maintenance backlog on federal lands, was established in the Great American Outdoors Act, which passed in 2020. LRF funds were authorized through 2025 meaning Congress must act by the end of the fiscal year to ensure public lands have the resources necessary to continue to maintain and restore the places we love.
The America the Beautiful Act would:
• Reauthorize LRF through 2033
• Increase funding from $1.9 billion to $2 billion per year
• Expand eligibility to include U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
• Prioritize programs that have a 15% match from the external stakeholders
• Increase agency transparency
Time outside improves our mental and physical well-being, strengthens community ties, and fuels a $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy that supports millions of jobs. Passage of this bill is vital to ensuring we can still visit and recreate in the outdoor places we love.
Please support the America the Beautiful Act today.
