RESPECT Act is disrespectful

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed bill, the "Reject Escalating Satanism by Preserving Essential Core Traditions (RESPECT) Act" (AZB00017215), which is scheduled for its first senate hearing on February 7th.
I am deeply concerned about the implications of this bill on our fundamental rights. I believe that the proposed legislation infringes upon the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of religion, as outlined in the Constitution.
The bill seeks to amend the Arizona Revised Statutes by prohibiting the display of satanic memorials, statues, altars, or any other representations of Satan on public property within the state. While the bill claims to preserve essential core traditions, it raises significant constitutional concerns by singling out and restricting the religious expression of a specific group.
This legislation impacts various levels of government, including municipal, county, and state properties, effectively preventing any satanic symbols or displays on public grounds. Titled the "RESPECT Act," it suggests a legislative intent to uphold a certain standard or tradition, but in doing so, it undermines the core values of individual freedom and equal protection under the law. And frankly, who decides which "traditions" are acceptable? Your traditional values are not necessarily the values of all the other citizens of this state.
I urge you to carefully consider the constitutional implications of this bill during its hearing on February 7th. Restricting the expression of a particular religious group on public property violates the principles of the First Amendment. I believe it is crucial to safeguard the constitutional rights of all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will carefully evaluate the concerns raised and make decisions that uphold the principles of our Constitution.
