I am writing to urgently raise concerns about President Trump’s April 28, 2025 executive order titled “Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens.” This order is not about public safety — it is about consolidating federal power, militarizing local police forces, punishing dissent, and dismantling civil rights protections. It fits hand-in-glove with the goals outlined in Project 2025, a radical blueprint to erase local control, politicize law enforcement, and turn federal agencies into instruments of presidential will. This executive action: • Directs the Attorney General to punish local officials who set limits on policing — trampling states’ rights and the will of local voters. • Expands the use of military equipment and training against American civilians, increasing the risk of violence and abuse. • Provides legal shields for police officers — even in cases of serious misconduct — undermining public accountability. • Frames diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as “discrimination,” setting the stage to dismantle basic civil rights protections. This is authoritarianism in plain sight. The President is laying the groundwork to replace community policing with loyalty policing — officers protected not for upholding the law, but for enforcing a political agenda. The use of national security assets against U.S. citizens is especially alarming and echoes tactics of regimes we once condemned.
