URGENT: Condemn CDC Director Firing & Agency Implosion Under RFK Jr.

I am writing to condemn the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez and demand you draw a line against this administration's assault on public health. After refusing RFK Jr.'s demand to fire veteran health experts and rubber-stamp "unscientific, reckless directives," Monarez was terminated after just one month. Her firing triggered an unprecedented exodus; at least four senior officials resigned in protest, leaving our nation's health agency leaderless. This follows RFK Jr.'s systematic dismantling of vaccine policy based on what medical experts call "willful medical disinformation." He unilaterally reversed COVID vaccine recommendations for healthy children and pregnant women, citing debunked research and misinformation. He sent Congress a document so scientifically fraudulent that pediatric experts called it "insulting." Meanwhile, he cancelled $500 million in mRNA vaccine development contracts, claiming vaccines "fail to protect effectively"—contradicting decades of proven science. We witnessed January 6th. We watched as those who attacked our Capitol were pardoned. We've seen RFK Jr.'s appointment despite his anti-vaccine conspiracy theories. Now we're watching the systematic destruction of the CDC. Monarez's lawyers accurately described this as "the systematic dismantling of public health institutions, the silencing of experts, and the dangerous politicization of science." When health and science decisions become weapons of ideology, our people suffer. The CDC has already endured mass layoffs, a shooting by an anti-vaccine gunman, and now leadership decapitation. Public health expert Ashish Jha called Kennedy's leadership a "total implosion" of the agency. Our ancestors didn’t fight for a country where science and truth bow to politics. They believed in institutions that served the people, not the powerful. They trusted that elected officials would protect democracy even when it was hard. I urge you to publicly condemn RFK Jr.'s dangerous misinformation and Monarez's firing. Support legislation that protects CDC independence. Vote to restore institutional integrity.
