An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)
THE SAD STATE OF TEXAS
2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Everyone’s reading about the latest Texas actions in a head-scratching attempt to ‘control the border.’ Closing a popular city park in Eagle Pass. Using the Texas National Guard to deny federal Border Patrol within the area. Pitting our state against the feds.
What a sad reenactment of the Alamo. And sure to turn out just as well. Let’s just hope we don’t end with the Rio Grande littered with bodies.
If y’all are really wanting to secede, you certainly seem to be trying. Didn’t the Civil War start under similar circumstances?
No one can make me believe that things couldn’t be handled better by writing legislation, working with DC, and even trying to convince your Republican brethren to accept the billions of dollars offered by the feds to help ease the situation.
We need more bureaucrats, more judges, more facilities to ease the issue. Not guns. Not misery. Not cruelty. Not stunts. We need lawmakers to do their jobs. To tackle the issue with real solutions, with sincere intent to fix things. Not ridiculous political stunts intended to create division and headlines.
Not treating desperate people looking for the American dream, just like ALL of our ancestors did, as less than human.
You’re turning Texas into a place that no one that actually values freedom would want to live. We can be stopped and asked for papers anytime anywhere. Half our population can’t get vital health care when needed. And when they try to leave the state to do so, they can be tracked down and returned.
More vestiges of the Civil War I guess.
Y’all are diminishing the state my ancestors fought to achieve. We’re a dangerous laughing stock. We are now an eye-roll state. On the edge of state-supported barbarism. And increasing state control of all its citizens.
But you don’t care. And I guess we don’t really care either. Oh well. Asi es la vida.
