WHY IS THE GOP GOING ALONG WITH MILITARIZING DC? AND PERHAPS BEYOND?

Congress This is what we do. We spend endless days, hours, rattling on about the latest ‘unprecedented’ thing our president does. But he does it anyway. The latest is calling the might of the government he serves into the streets of DC. On completely false pretenses the Trump is deploying more than 100 FBI agents, about 40 from ATF, officers from the Secret Service and the U.S. Marshals Service and members of the DC National Guard. In order “to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor, and worse.” These forces will also clear out homeless encampments from the city. Any idea where they might be going? Non sequitur…FBI agents are not trained to patrol the streets, and every one of them assigned to do that is not investigating foreign spies, foreign and domestic terrorists, or crimes like fraud, murder, corruption, and human trafficking. But he’s done this before without pushback so why wouldn’t he again? He’s a man with a plan that’s why. Crime in DC is at a 30-year low. It's not even in the top 10 dangerous cities in US. But throughout history autocrats always use a false pretext to impose government control over local law enforcement as a prelude to a more national takeover. Which is far more dangerous than the situation he says he is fixing. He’s testing his 30 power on DC to see how to make it work better in LA, NYC, or wherever he thinks the next ‘emergency’ might be. You do remember Trump refused to call out the National Guard on January 6? A day of actual emergency and when such actions would have been no-brainer appropriate. But that day of all days he claimed he lacked the power to do so. Yet now he has, suddenly and without a valid reason, ordered the troops to mobilize. What now? Y’all are letting this happen. So what’s the plan? Ha. Rhetorical question. We’ll find out the answer soon enough. And blaming Biden might not work this time.
