Protect Our Drinking Water: Enforce Nitrate Limits Under the Clean Water Act
201 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
Today I take pen in hand to write and urge corrective action to enforce nitrate contamination limits under the Clean Water Act and oppose any efforts to weaken those protections.
Nitrate pollution in our drinking water is a serious public health threat, and the existing law gives you the tools to act. Please use them, as the voodoo doctors in charge of our environmental protections and our health system are criminal in their neglect, and they will need to be punished later.
As you know, Nitrate runoff, largely from agricultural and industrial sources, contaminates wells and municipal water supplies across the country. High nitrate levels are linked to serious health risks, particularly for infants and pregnant people.
Families in rural communities often bear the worst of it, with no affordable alternative when their tap water becomes unsafe. This is not a future problem — people are drinking contaminated water right now. This is an issue in every state.
The Clean Water Act exists precisely for moments like this. Stand behind it.
I ask again to Vote against any rollbacks, support funding for enforcement, and push for stronger accountability for the industrial polluters driving this crisis. With water scarcity already impacting states and cities, every drop is precious.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
