An open letter to State Governors (Texas only)

GREG ABBOTT, STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST STUDENTS NOW

165 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

I am disgusted and appalled by your lack of basic decency and respect for the constitutional rights of the students at the University of Austin to peacefully assemble and exercise their right to free speech. You have further descended our great state into chaos, facism, and authoritarianism. By occupying UT, inflicting violence on students, and publicly calling for even more force to be used against them, you have proven to all Texans that you have forgotten The Alamo- you have forgotten the founding of our state, the occupations we have fought, and the rights we so hold dear. You do not represent the voice of Texans. You do not have my vote. I will actively participate in ensuring you are not re-elected. I demand you withdraw the state troopers and other agents of violence from the UT campus and never deploy this type of response to any of the other students in Texas. Note: if any other state Govenor's office happens to receive this letter, as it is being sent as part of a larger 16,000+ movement of people across our country who agree with my voice and views, you should consider this addressed to you and any use of force taken against students in your state. I encourage you to forward letters you recieve directly to Greg Abbott's office as well.
