An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Stop Misgendering Elected Officials

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The intentional misgendering of Representative Sarah McBride by Representative Mary Miller is unacceptable and disrespectful. As an elected official, Rep. Miller should uphold basic standards of decency and refer to her colleagues by their correct names and pronouns. Transgender individuals face disproportionate levels of discrimination and harassment, which this type of behavior perpetuates. Respecting one's identity is a matter of common courtesy and human dignity. I urge you to condemn Rep. Miller's remarks and reaffirm your commitment to creating an inclusive environment where all people are treated with respect, regardless of their gender identity or expression. Leadership should model acceptance, not reinforce intolerance.
