HB 10186, the "Bathroom Safety & Privacy Act," is a deeply concerning piece of legislation that promotes discrimination and violates the basic human rights of transgender individuals. This bill would prohibit all people from using restrooms and changing facilities on federal property that do not align with the sex assigned to them at birth. Such a policy is not only dehumanizing but also poses severe safety risks for transgender individuals who would be forced into spaces that do not match their gender identity. This discriminatory measure flies in the face of established medical consensus and legal precedent affirming the right of transgender people to use facilities corresponding to their gender identity. It perpetuates the harmful myth that transgender individuals pose a threat in such spaces, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In reality, it is policies like HB 10186 that endanger transgender Americans by denying them access to facilities where they can feel safe and respected. I urge you to reject this cruel and unconstitutional bill that would legalize discrimination against one of our nation's most vulnerable communities. Transgender rights are human rights, and no one should be denied the basic dignity of using a restroom in accordance with their lived identity. Vote no on HB 10186 and stand on the right side of history by upholding equality and inclusion for all.
