State Charges Against Elon for Unauthorized Data Access of Illinois Residents

I am writing to demand an immediate investigation and legal action against Elon Musk and his associates for potential violations of Illinois state law related to unauthorized access, use, and potential misuse of personal and financial data belonging to Illinois residents. Illinois law does not permit unauthorized access or misuse of Illinois residents' personal information. I urge your office to investigate potential violations under the following statutes: 1.) Illinois Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) (815 ILCS 530/1) - If any Illinois residents’ personal or financial information was accessed without proper legal consent or was stored in a way that increases the risk of identity theft or fraud, this could be a direct violation of PIPA. Given claims that access is read-only, it's very likely that information has been transferred to less-secure external systems for data and/or AI analysis, given the primary skills of his chosen associates. -The law requires businesses and entities to properly safeguard personal data, and any unauthorized access or failure to notify Illinois residents of a data breach is a punishable offense. 2.) Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/1) - If Musk or his associates misrepresented the extent of their data access or misused financial data in a way that harms Illinois consumers, they may be liable for deceptive business practices under this act. -This law holds individuals and entities accountable for misleading, fraudulent, or unfair business practices that affect Illinois residents. 3.) Computer Tampering and Unlawful Access to Data (720 ILCS 5/16D-3, 720 ILCS 5/17-51) -Illinois law explicitly prohibits unauthorized access to personal, financial, or government data. -If Musk or his associates accessed Illinois residents’ data without legal authority, this could be considered computer tampering, a Class 3 felony under Illinois law. - Any unauthorized use, duplication, or distribution of such data could warrant additional criminal penalties. ACTION REQUESTED: Given the serious implications of unauthorized data access, I urge Illinois to: 1.) Launch an immediate investigation into whether any personal or financial information belonging to Illinois residents was accessed, stored, or misused. 2.) Issue subpoenas to determine the scope of Musk’s access and whether it involved Illinois data. 3.) Pursue criminal charges under Illinois law if any unauthorized access or misuse of Illinois residents’ data is confirmed. 4.) Ensure that Illinois residents are notified if their personal or financial data has been improperly accessed or compromised. Illinois law is designed to protect its residents from unauthorized access, misuse, and fraud involving personal and financial information, and the law must be enforced.
