Demand Oversight and Accountability for DOJ Politicization

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to address the alarming politicization of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and deputies Todd Blanche and Emil Bove. The DOJ's fundamental purpose is to ensure American safety and security by upholding the law, but recent actions demonstrate it has been weaponized for political revenge rather than serving justice. The evidence is extensive and deeply troubling. The DOJ opened a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as part of a campaign to influence interest rate decisions, threatening the independence of our central bank. Charges were dropped against former NYC mayor Eric Adams and Trump's co-defendants in the classified documents case. At least three January 6 prosecutors and 20 DOJ prosecutors who assisted Special Counsel Jack Smith were fired. The department has launched criminal investigations into perceived political rivals including former CIA director John Brennan, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. The FBI raided the home of John Bolton, Trump's former national security advisor who became a critic. Meanwhile, a bribery investigation into border czar Tom Homan, who allegedly accepted cash from undercover FBI agents, was closed. Perhaps most egregiously, top career prosecutor Erik Siebert was forced out and replaced with Trump's personal attorney Lindsey Halligan, who then indicted former FBI director James Comey. A federal judge dismissed the indictment and ruled Halligan's appointment invalid. When a whistleblower reported officials encouraging DOJ lawyers to defy court orders, that whistleblower was fired and discredited. I am asking you to condemn the DOJ's political attack on Jerome Powell and refuse to confirm new Federal Reserve appointees until this is resolved. Conduct public oversight hearings into these politically motivated actions. The integrity of our justice system depends on your willingness to hold these officials accountable and restore the DOJ's independence.
