This isn’t just a short-term maneuver to reopen the government. It’s a dangerous attempt to permanently weaken the Senate’s role as a check on absolute power. Eliminating the filibuster would silence debate, erode our institutions, and set a precedent that could destroy the balance our democracy depends on.
