An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Destruction of Las Playas Intaglio: Demand for Accountability

13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

On April 23, 2026, a DHS contractor building the U.S.-Mexico border wall bulldozed a 60- to 70-foot swath through the Las Playas Intaglio, a 1,000-year-old, fish-shaped geoglyph in Arizona's Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. The sacred archaeological site had been flagged by a cultural monitor, but it has been bulldozed just like other historical places, by this administration. This is an illegal act and the DOJ must call for criminal charges. I ask you to be our voice and the voice of others who want the history of our country and the laws of the land to be respected and followed. This administration needs to be held accountable for its disregard of all we hold sacred.
