Don’t send in the marines.

I am weeping for my country today as our authoritarian president sends 2000 California guardsman against the governor’s wishes to LA and Hegseth is salivating to send in the marines. Our military is not a police force. That is not how they are trained, particularly the marines, and we will probably end up with another Kent State moment. Ice is arresting people who are trying to do the right thing by showing up for their appointments. Ice is arresting hardworking immigrants who make our economy hum and pay taxes that they don’t see a benefit from. Trump has rendered 800000 immigrants with TPS illegal with the stroke of a pen. Immigrants made America the greatest country in the world. We are shooting ourselves in the foot and possibly the head by making the US so unwelcoming to the world. We are running off so many people who allow us to be the best we can be. So much of this is because of Stephen Miller who thrives on hatred and Donald Trump because cruelty is the point. We are so much better than this and those of you who stand by silently because you are too afraid of Donald Trump to standup to his destruction of our institutions and our standing in the world sicken me. History will judge you harshly.
