An open letter to the U.S. Congress

The president must obey the rule of law and judicial orders.

The recent actions by the administration in defying court orders and deporting individuals without due process are deeply concerning and threaten the foundations of our democratic system. Ignoring judicial rulings undermines the rule of law and the vital system of checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution. This flagrant disregard for the authority of the courts and the rights of those impacted sets a dangerous precedent. We must unequivocally uphold the independence of the judiciary and its ability to serve as a check on executive overreach. Failing to adhere to court orders is a subversion of justice and a violation of our most fundamental principles as a nation of laws. Protecting constitutional rights and adhering to legal processes are essential for maintaining a stable, free society. I urge you to forcefully condemn these actions and take all necessary steps to ensure the administration complies with court orders and respects the authority of the judicial branch. Defending the rule of law must be a paramount priority to preserve our democracy and prevent further erosion of its institutions. We cannot allow this alarming defiance to go unchecked. Our republic depends on it.
